Got dug into the ditch a bit

Sunday, May 17th, 2026, at 7:21 p.m. (PT), we received a request for help with an offroad recovery in Oregon. The requester, Benjamin T Smith, submitted the following information: “4×4 ram 1500 classic, got dug into the ditch a bit / I’m with the vehicle / I can help cover the cost of fuel.”

Our administrator, Al Fontan, contacted the requester and verified the contact information provided, GPS location, and current situation before sending the request to local volunteers. In this particular recovery, we contacted volunteers within a 15-mile radius.

From the group of volunteers we reached out to, William Reddicks confirmed his availability and expressed his willingness to respond to the request. He informed us that he could arrive at the scene within 35 minutes. He was approximately 25 miles away from the location of the request.

The recovery was completed at around 11:50 a.m. the following day. William later sent us an email with more details we share down below.

From William

Engaged the evening of the 17th to find we needed another rig to help. Fire department showed up and helped him get home leaving the vehicle over night. I coordinated with a friend and we restarted at 10:30 a.m. We hooked up front and rear and walked him back up to the road successfully recovering the vehicle. We completed at 11:50 a.m.

We want to express our gratitude to Willam and his friend for taking the initiative to handle this request, even going the extra mile by visiting the location twice to ensure its completion. Your exceptional efforts are truly commendable!
