Tuesday, May 6th, 2023, at 8:14 p.m. (PDT), a request for help with an offroad recovery was submitted to our system from Oregon. The requester, Carter Crubaugh submitted the following: “93 Chevy Van G20. No hitch receiver. I am safe with food and water for overnight. I have attempted to dig myself out only to make things worse. Cote Canyon Rd is suggested. Rough roads and soft mud the closer you get to my location. / I’m with the vehicle“
After verifying the information submitted, the location and getting a few more photos, we passed the request to volunteers. By 8:37 a.m., Marc Estep, offered help for later in the afternoon.
Marc contacted Carter, and by 6:00 p.m., Marc was en route to help. He later closed the request at 7:00 p.m. and sent the following note and photo: “The wife came along as a photographer. Basic winch back about 20 feet. Then he got stuck a couple times on the way out and I just gave him a quick yank with a kinetic rope.“
