Pickup Truck Loses Control and Slides Off Road

Pickup Truck Loses Control and Slides Off Road

Sunday, November 17th, 2024, at 9:01 p.m. (MT), we received a request for help with an offroad recovery in Idaho. The requester, Ray Howell, submitted the following information: “Down a trail road slid don’t think there is a lot of damage but is buried in soft dirt rock / I’m not with the vehicle”

Our administrator, Al Fontan, contacted the requester and verified the contact information provided, GPS location, and current situation before sending the request to local volunteers. In this particular recovery, we contacted volunteers within a 25-mile radius.

Since the request came in late at night, we contacted the requester and confirmed he was looking for help the following day in daylight. At 11:00 p.m., we posted the request, asking volunteers to assist the next day.

By morning, around 7:15 a.m., Aaron Malin offered to help later in the afternoon. He was approximately 30 minutes away. At 11:30 a.m., he contacted Ray to coordinate plans and aimed to arrive at the scene around 2:00 p.m.

At 7:30 p.m., we received the first update from Aaron, as there was no service in the area. The recovery was successfully completed, with two vehicles recovered.

He was there and got me out—such an amazing person! Thank you all so much. You don’t even know how badly I was stressing. I truly appreciate the help. If there’s ever anything I can do in return, I’ll always be there to help. Thanks again!

Requester
