Stuck in the sand

Stuck in the sand

Monday, March 24th, 2025, at 6:55 a.m. (CT), we received a request for help with an offroad recovery in Texas. The requester, Cornelius Mickle , submitted the following information: “I’m stuck in the sand at the jetties at north packers channel in corpus Christi Texas. Been here all night My rear passenger side tire is stuck. I’m driving a 2011 chevy Tahoe. Phone charger is not working and I’m down to 20%. Help! / I’m with the vehicle / I can help cover the cost of fuel.”

Our administrator, David Mrak, contacted the requester and verified the contact information provided, GPS location, and current situation before sending the request to local volunteers. In this particular recovery, we contacted volunteers within a 115-mile radius.

We had a bunch of volunteers who were super helpful with this request. They also helped us coordinate it with other Facebook groups we reached out to.

Jeff Watson did an awesome job keeping us updated on Facebook. Gary Lang also pitched in. But then Jeff shared some news: “People from outside the organization are going to get him out. One report said no one around, but that was just a few hours ago.”, 30 minutes later, he posted on our lobby, “Things are looking up. Can’t get the vehicle in neutral. A mobile mechanic is on his way. Should be recovered soon.”

By 10:00 a.m., we were able to free the vehicle and close the request. We’d like to express our gratitude to all the volunteers who helped us out. Your efforts, even if it was just coordinating and keeping us all on the same page, were truly appreciated. Thanks a bunch!
