Sunday, July 28th, 2024, at 9:43 p.m. (MT), we received a request for help with an offroad recovery in Montana. The requester, Tim Morris, submitted the following information: “Off of Hells Canyon, 2nd gen Tacoma stuck on a muddy step up, and one tire is in the creek. The trail is only big enough for a Tacoma-sized vehicle, and roof scratches will happen / I’m not with the vehicle”
David Mrak coordinated this request, contacted Tim, and verified the GPS location and situation before sending the request to local volunteers within a 60-mile radius.
The request was received pretty late at night, and we had several volunteers looking to help in the morning. The requester was able to secure a ride out and he was planning to return the following day after work.
The following day, Dakota Wilkins and Christian Barlow worked together to get the vehicle out. Later, Christian shared a quick note: “This was a fairly simple recovery; the truck was high centered on a rock on a 30-degree incline. We recovered with a winch at an offset angle, then wheeled it out for the owner.“
We want to thank Dakota and Christian for driving a pretty long distance and putting in the work to help with this request. Awesome job!
