Tuesday, February 24th, 2026, at 7:52 a.m. (CT), we received a request for help with an offroad recovery in Alabama. The requester, Fleetwood Hollinger, submitted the following information: “I work all day today and it rains on Thursday, so I really MUST get the truck out on wednesday 2/25. I have 2020 white Tacoma 4×4 stuck in mud up to the axles towards the end of “reservoir road” forest service rd 621c in the TNF. The mud hole and truck do not block the trail path, and there is some decent open area around the truck. I do not have a winch. I tried shoveling out the mud from beneath the truck and adding wood underneath the tires with no success. Truck has gas, 4 inch lift and 33” tires. There are large trees nearby for chaining up to. / I’m with the vehicle / I can help cover the cost of fuel.”
Our administrator, Al Fontan, contacted the requester and verified the contact information provided, GPS location, and current situation before sending the request to local volunteers. In this particular recovery, we contacted volunteers within a 20-mile radius.
By 8:00 a.m. the request was released to volunteers, from the group of contacted volunteers we had Barry Hagan and Duy Le taking over the recovery, marking themselves as engaging and contacting the requester to coordinate the efforts.
By 12:20 p.m. this request was completed. We later received a quick note and photos we shared below from Barry.
Barry’s notes
He was stuck in an area with an underground spring. I pulled up hooked to him just to see if I could break suction. After seeing it was gonna take more. I position Duy in his Tacoma and we hooked 2 winches up close to help lift him up and he came right out.
