Friday, April 14th, 2023 at 1:30 p.m. (MST) we received a request for an offroad recovery in Montana. The request submitted by Hunter George read: “Hello, I was traveling up st. Mary’s peak road to view the fire watch tower. The road is dirt and able to fit a full size vehicle. The last half mile turned to snow, I am maybe 300m from where the road is dirt and snow. The road of snow appears traveled however with warm conditions today the snow was warm and wet causing me to get stuck. This is my current lat/long: 46.493043, -114.176495 / I’m with the vehicle“
We verified the location, contact information and gather some details about the situation. We passed the request to volunteers by 1:55 p.m. By 2:00 p.m., Mark Lawson, a local volunteer announced he could help after work in a few hours.
By 2:38 p.m., Mark updated us, he and a friend Leonard were in route, Mark already coordinated with Hunter.
By 4:50 p.m., he uploaded a photo to our lobby and sent us a brief note: “We air him down to 8 PSI. We air down my jeep to 8 pounds of pressure and then we used a snatch block to pull his front end over and then we were able to drive his truck out”.
Awesome job Mark, thanks for the help!
